# Candler vs Wordfence Central

Source: https://candler.app/compare/wordfence-central

Wordfence Central helps teams manage security across WordPress sites using Wordfence. Candler combines supplied WordPress plugin versions with supported GitHub dependency inventories and a shared findings workflow. Their current connections and coverage are different.

Editorial comparison by Candler. Based on vendor documentation, not a hands-on benchmark. Last reviewed: 2026-10-29. Plans and vendor access may change.

| Topic | Candler | Wordfence Central |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Main focus | Known vulnerability review across supplied WordPress and GitHub inventories. | Central management of WordPress sites running Wordfence. |
| Site operations | Does not launch Wordfence site scans or manage Wordfence settings. | Provides site scan controls and reusable security configuration templates. |
| Notifications | Email, Slack, and Microsoft Teams destinations. | Documents email, SMS, Slack, and Discord notifications. |
| Wordfence connection | Uses the vulnerability data feed, not a customer’s Central account. | An independent Wordfence service with its own account and access. |

## Choose Central to manage Wordfence across sites

Wordfence Central brings security events and scan results from multiple sites into one view. Its documented controls include starting scans and using templates to manage site security configuration. Teams can share access to those operations.

Wordfence describes Central as free for Wordfence users, with audit-log availability depending on site licenses. Check the current license details rather than assuming all site features are included.

## Choose Candler for the mixed software record

Candler V1 puts supplied plugin versions and selected GitHub dependencies into one team inventory. It records known findings, coverage gaps, review decisions, and alert delivery outcomes. It does not configure a site’s Wordfence installation.

If the work includes GitHub applications as well as WordPress sites, that shared inventory is the main difference to evaluate. It does not replace the need for site-level protection or accurate inventory collection.

## The Wordfence feed is not Wordfence Central

Candler already uses Wordfence vulnerability records to check supplied plugin versions. This does not connect a customer’s Central sites, scan history, settings, or team membership.

A possible Central connector is research only on the public roadmap. It first needs a supported, authorized integration path. No import capability, partner status, or release date is promised.

## Try the workflow before changing site controls

Keep existing site security controls in place. Add a small, accurate plugin inventory to Candler and compare the review experience. V1 does not migrate Central settings or historic scan results, and Candler decisions do not update a Central account.
