# Candler vs Snyk

Source: https://candler.app/compare/snyk

Snyk Open Source focuses on helping developers find, prioritize, and address dependency risks, including license issues. Candler focuses on keeping supplied WordPress and GitHub inventories, known findings, team decisions, and notifications in one place.

Editorial comparison by Candler. Based on vendor documentation, not a hands-on benchmark. Last reviewed: 2026-10-29. Plans and vendor access may change.

| Topic | Candler | Snyk |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Main job | A shared inventory and review record for WordPress and selected GitHub dependencies. | Developer-focused open-source dependency security and license analysis. |
| Current scope | Known vulnerability matching from Wordfence and OSV, with CISA KEV context. | Snyk Open Source’s dependency findings and remediation workflow. |
| License analysis | Not part of V1. | Included in the documented Open Source product scope. |
| Connector requirement | No Snyk import in V1. A V2 connector is conditional. | Current documentation requires Enterprise access for API use. |

## Choose Snyk when the developer workflow is the main need

Snyk describes its Open Source product around finding, ranking, and fixing dependency vulnerabilities and license issues. If your decision includes license policy as well as security, Candler V1 does not offer an equivalent check.

This comparison is about Snyk Open Source, not a full review of every product sold under the Snyk name. Check the features and limits of the plan you are considering.

## Choose Candler for a common review record

Candler is intended for teams that want supplied WordPress plugin inventories alongside selected PHP and JavaScript lockfile dependencies. A shared findings record can help owners and reviewers follow decisions without treating a notification as the whole workflow.

Candler does not assess whether your application can reach a vulnerable function. It reports known matches for checked versions, keeps source details, and shows gaps when a check cannot complete.

## What would a Snyk integration add?

A proposed V2 connector would read relevant findings from an existing Snyk account. It would start with dependency findings and preserve the original source link, project identity, sync time, and provider status.

Snyk currently documents Enterprise API access and recommends service accounts for automation. We would confirm access, region, permission limits, and permitted use before building or promising the connector.

## Evaluate the extra work, not just the extra findings

Check whether the added source helps someone make a better decision. Compare how overlapping reports would be grouped and who owns review in each tool. Candler V1 does not migrate Snyk projects, ignored issues, or historic decisions automatically.
